Chemical Peels

Dr. Seiler is Birmingham's board-certified cosmetic laser surgeon, trusted for his ability to treat patients’ concerns safely and effectively.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a mild to strong solution that is applied topically to exfoliate and remove the damaged outer layers of the skin. After treatment, the healthy renewed skin will look and feel smoother, brighter and more beautiful.

Why come to Seiler Skin for a chemical peel?

We offer a number of chemical peels at various strengths that will effectively treat many different conditions and skin types. Under the supervision of Dr. Seiler, our team of talented medical aestheticians will recommend an individualized treatment plan that will best address your particular skin concerns. If appropriate, we may recommend other treatments, as well.

At Seiler Skin, we offer the following peels:

SkinMedica:

  • Illuminize Peel
  • Vitalize Peel (Jessner)
  • Rejuvenize Peel (Jessner)

Skinceuticals:

  • Gel Peel GL
  • Gel Peel SM
  • MicroPeel Sensitive Skin
  • MicroPeel 20 & 30%
  • MicroPeel Plus 20 & 30%
  • Advance Corrective Peel (Jessner)

What does a chemical peel treat?

  • Sun damage
  • Acne
  • Pore size
  • Texture
  • Skin tone (dullness)
  • Hyperpigmentation and melasma
  • Aging skin

*In addition to treating these conditions, chemical peels are a great preventative and maintenance procedure that compliment other treatments.

What are the results of a chemical peel?

Through reduction in acne, pore size and pigmentation, patients will see brighter and smoother skin. A series of treatments may be required to achieve your desired results.

What is the social downtime from a chemical peel?

Depending on the strength of your peel, you may experience several days of visible exfoliation. We will discuss this with you during your consultation.

Are chemical peels safe?

Chemical peels are safe when utilized under the supervision of an experienced practitioner. At Seiler Skin, we typically recommend mild- to moderate-strength solutions. Dr. Seiler believes that traditionally strong (e.g., aggressive TCA and Phenol) chemical peels are unnecessarily risky and do not produce the same caliber results as his advanced laser treatments.
