If you come to see Dr. Seiler for tattoo removal you will feel confident in your choice and know that you are in safe and experienced hands. Whether is was a bad decision, a bad artist job or simply a different time in your life... studies show up to 50% of people regret having their tattoo. For those people, having a tattoo can be embarrassing or a barrier to their career or life goals. Covering tattoos with clothing or makeup can be tedious and inconvenient and it's only a temporary solution.

What you need to know about tattoo removal:

It requires a highly specialized type of laser in the hands of a specialty trained laser practitioner. Most patients looking into tattoo removal do not know that only a specific type of laser should be used to safely and effectively remove tattoo pigment. Multi-colored tattoos generally require multiple different lasers. Tattoos are commonly poorly treated due to the use of the wrong laser and lack of knowledge of the specific theory and physics of tattoo removal. Therefore, Seiler Skin offers laser tattoo removal with the highly advanced Fotona QX Max (Q-Switch) laser platform which contains multiple lasers so that we may safely and effectively treat all colors and types of tattoos.

Why we use the Fotona QX Max laser:

For years now, Q-Switch lasers have been proven to be the most effective for removing tattoos. Dr. Seiler chose this laser after extensive research because it contains 4 laser wavelengths in one device to address all colors and types of tattoo. The Q-Switch 1064nm ND:YAG effectively removes dark pigments (black, brown, and most other dark colors). The 532mn KTP removes lighter pigments (red, purple, pink and orange). This device also contains a 650nm wavelength for green tattoos and a 585nm wavelength for blue tattoos.

Tattoos need to be treated differently than other types of pigment in the skin. For example, many lasers can treat sunspots by heating pigment and stimulating the body to shead/expell the pigment. However, due to the density of the pigment in tattoos one must use a specific laser (Q-Switch) that can emit extremely short energy pulses to break up tattoo pigment and stimulate the body's immune system to remove the pigment. If one uses the wrong laser on tattoos, serious harm including burns and scars can occur due to the above mentioned physics of the treatment and physiology of the skin.

How many treatments will you need?

Due to the variability in numbers and types of pigment in tattoos and the type (amature vs. professional) of tattoo, it is difficult to project the number of treatments required. In general, previously untreated tattoos will require an average of 5 to 15 treatments or more. If you have had your tattoo properly treated before, this number may be less. Skin type, multi-colored tattoos, lighter colors and certain body areas may be cause for more treatments. We will estimate the number of treatments for you at your consultation.

What will your recovery/downtime be?

It is well known that older technology and lasers caused significant downtime and side effects after laser tattoo removal. However, our new laser, the Fotona QX Max provides treatments with much less downtime and discomfort. In addition, Dr. Seiler specializes in various forms of anesthesia before treatment including topical numbing agents, local numbing injections and others. Finally, Seiler Skin has a very specific required medical grade skincare regimen that will decrease downtime and discomfort after treatment and help to ensure quick healing and proper result.

What will your cost be?

Cost is per area size and is per treatment. This will be discussed in your consultation with Dr. Seiler.
