O-Shot® for Urinary Incontinence
"Through research and listening to my patients, I've come to learn that a significant number of women suffer from urinary incontinence in its different forms. Studies show 40% or more of women struggle with this issue. I also realize how much this can negatively affect a woman's life. I am so happy to have a solution called The O-Shot!" - Warren B. Seiler III, MD
Until now, the only options that attempt to improve the symptoms of urinary stress or urge incontinence (however mild to severe) have involved exercises like Kegel or surgery. Kegel exercises are generally unsuccessful and surgery is fraught with serious complications. If you've explored these options, you have most likely found them to be unhelpful and even complicated. The O-Shot is safe, easy, painless and provides great results. The majority of women receiving The O-Shot will see near to complete resolution of their urinary stress or urge incontinence.
Why Does Urinary Incontinence happen?
You are not alone and it's not your fault.
If you have trouble holding back your urine in situations like sneezing, exercise, physical activities or even in normal daily situations, you have urinary incontinence (stress or urge). Before The O-Shot, treatments have been relatively unsuccessful for this condition. This is because most historical research and medical information has been incorrect about the female anatomy and the way urination works in a woman. Men have a circular urethral sphincter that encircles the urethra (the tube from which the urine flows out of the body) and allows a man to hold back his urine. Unfortunately, women do not have this urinary urethral sphincter.
However, as a woman, you do have some muscular/erectile tissue at the opening from the bladder to the urethra that can help you retain urine. This tissue also contributes to sexual pleasure. Recent studies have not only proven this but have also shown that this tissue deteriorates with age, sexual intercourse, child birth, diseases of the female anatomy and any type of trauma to the tissue.
Therefore, with the great invention of the O-Shot by Dr. Charles Runels (now offered by his colleague Dr. Seiler), you can beat urinary incontinence by gaining rejuvenated and stronger tissue in that area described above. We now know that this tissue is rarely improved with Kegel exercises or other treatments (including surgery). The medical community previously thought differently and therefore treatments for this condition have been inadequate. Now we know and have the solution for you!
How does the O-Shot with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) help with Urinary Incontinence?
The O-Shot is a painless injection of your own Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) that is drawn from a small amount of your own blood and prepared using an FDA-approved system. PRP contains growth factors and other elements that help the body to heal, increase blood flow and rejuvenate tissue. The O-Shot will help restore that weakened muscular/erectile tissue near the urethra to restore your ability to retain urine.
Why should you get the O-Shot for Urinary Incontinence?
First, the O-Shot works!
Second, urinary incontinence is more common than you think and can occur at an earlier age than expected. Your urinary incontinence will only get worse with age and without proper treatment. Urinary incontinence is a common cause of embarrassment, decreased social interaction, difficulty with relationships, depression, sexual dysfunction, sex drive and pain.
Why not treat all of this with one O-Shot!
What should I expect during my O-Shot procedure appointment?
During a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Seiler, he will discuss your medical, sexual history and the possible causes of your concerns. If you are a good candidate, the procedure may be performed the same day or scheduled for a future date. You should have had your routine yearly gynecological exam before getting the O-Shot.
At the time of treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. Your blood is then painlessly drawn and prepared using an FDA-approved sterile system. Once your PRP is ready, Dr. Seiler then will inject a small amount of numbing and then inject the PRP.
Does the O-Shot hurt?
Although most patients are surprised, this really doesn't hurt. You may feel a slight pinch or warm sensation with no discomfort after. You can immediately resume normal physical exercise and sexual activity.
When will I see results?
You may see immediate improvement in your urinary incontinence although results usually take several weeks to months to be in full effect. Because the O-Shot treats sexual dysfunction as well, some women see an immediate increase in sexual desire and pleasure and in others, it may take several weeks to months. Results typically last an average of 12-18 months or more with one treatment. Occasionally patients may need a second “touch up” treatment within 6 to 12 months of initial treatment.
Is the O-Shot safe?
Absolutely. Because we are using your own naturally occurring growth factors to rejuvenate tissue and blood vessels there is no real risk of side effects or complications. There has never been a documented complication of this procedure in any medical literature. We have seen great results with no complications in our medical practice.
Because this treatment has not been studied in pregnancy, at this time, Dr. Seiler does not offer the O-Shot to pregnant women.
You should have had a normal gynecological and urological exam within the last year and have not had any gynecological/female issues since.
Is this covered by insurance?
No. This is an elective procedure and is not yet covered by insurance.
