It’s the beginning of a new year, which is one of the busiest times for our practice as patients come in to reevaluate their skin wellness goals. While some people come in for the first time wanting to take control of their skin journey, others pay a visit to update their regimen or restock on their favorite medical-grade products. Similar to other resolutions we may make for the new year — eating healthier, exercising more, saving up for a big life purchase — your skin health is a process that requires diligence and yes, patience. As we ring in 2021, I thought to share the three key steps for a successful skin health routine and how our team at Seiler Skin is ready to help you along the way.
Set Your Skin Health Goals
We all want to have skin that looks and feels its best, but the simple fact is every person’s journey is different. From texture to complexion to areas of concern, every person’s skin is unique and therefore requires a tailored approach. It may sound like a no brainer, but one of the most important things you can do to achieve amazing skin is committing to your routine. Patients who come in sporadically for one-off treatments may find they are less satisfied with the results because meeting your skin health goals isn’t an overnight process. I love using the analogy of someone preparing for a marathon: they spend months conditioning their body, building up running speed/duration and fueling themselves with the nutrients needed to be successful. No one would expect to commit to a marathon on a Wednesday and be able to do it on Saturday, right? The same can be said for your skin.
The damage or concerns you may have didn’t appear in a matter of days and therefore can’t go away in the same timeframe. Our team works with every patient to track their regimen, see what shifts may need to be made and lock in those long-term results. Trust me, I for one know how frustrating it can be to have to wait for things, but practicing patience is so crucial for checking off your skin goals!
