The Vampire Hand Rejuvenation is a painless and minimally invasive procedure pioneered by Dr. Seiler that combines the science of platelet rich plasma (PRP) with Juvederm XC (dermal filler) to correct wrinkling, thinning and crepey skin and volume loss in the hands due to age and sun exposure.
What is platelet rich plasma (PRP)?
PRP is a concentrated source of platelets, growth factors and cytokines produced naturally in your own body, and stimulates and controls healthy regenerative processes, including collagen and soft tissue remodeling, and thereby improves overall health and rejuvenation. PRP has been used successfully for years to promote improved healing times and optimal results from various surgical and non-surgical procedures. The PRP, painlessly obtained through a small blood draw, is injected after dermal filler and enhances the results of this amazing procedure.
How does the Vampire Hand Rejuvenation work?
During this treatment, Dr. Seiler uses a hyaluronic-acid dermal filler (Juvederm XC) to restore volume, thicken skin and reduce the appearance of vessels and tendons, and strategically injects PRP into multiple areas of the hands and wrists. These growth factors activate the body’s healthy regenerative processes to stimulate new collagen, new fatty tissue (smoothness) and improved blood circulation (tone and texture).
Why come to Seiler Skin for the Vampire Hand Rejuvenation?
This treatment is a revolutionary new treatment that is only performed by a “handful” of providers across the country. It, along with all other Vampire procedures, is highly complex and must be performed at a Vampire®-certified center by a trained provider who uses an FDA-approved sterile system to obtain the PRP and understands the science and how to perform and tailor the treatment to each patient’s concerns. In Alabama, only a physician who has met the above qualifications may offer this procedure. Just like many other cosmetic procedures, the Vampire Hand Rejuvenation is not a highly regulated treatment and thus patients must be educated in how to choose a provider.
Dr. Seiler is recognized across the country as a leading authority on injection and injectable techniques. He trains other practitioners on advanced injection techniques for Allergan, the manufacturer of the Juvederm family of fillers. Dr. Seiler was also extensively trained in the use of PRP during his surgical residency, and was an early adopter and believer in the science. He has been personally trained by the creator of the Vampire procedures, Dr. Charles Runels, and currently trains other practitioners around the world to become certified providers.
Thanks to his surgical and cosmetic training, Dr. Seiler has a deep knowledge of hand anatomy which enables him to perform this treatment with little to no risk. He is also able to minimize bruising and downtime through the use of the AccuVein device, which reveals areas to avoid that contain vessels in the skin that could cause bruising.
Dr. Seiler is committed to spending as much time as needed to customize his injection technique to address the patient’s concerns, and making the experience as comfortable as possible (holding pressure to avoid bleeding, icing the treated area, etc.).
What does the Vampire Hand Rejuvenation treat?
- Age-related volume loss
- Thinning skin
- Skin texture
- Tone and complexion (i.e., color and clarity)
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Visibility of blood vessels and tendons
*NOTE: Although this treatment will not specifically address pigment issues (sun spots or age spots), Seiler Skin offers several different treatments that can be combined with the Vampire Hand Rejuvenation to correct these concerns.
What is the social downtime after the Vampire Hand Rejuvenation?
Following the treatment, patients can expect minimal swelling and bruising, resulting in little to no social downtime. Normal activities can be resumed immediately. For those patients who experience very minimal bruising, makeup can be used for cover. Although rare, if any bruising occurs, a quick, free IPL spot treatment will rapidly dissolve the bruise.
What are the results of the Vampire Hand Rejuvenation?
After this treatment, you will see immediate volume restoration and rejuvenation of the hands. As the PRP stimulates healing, collagen remodeling, circulation and healthy tissue regeneration, patients will see texture, tone and color improvement, and noticeable tightening that will peak in six to 12 months and last for years.
Is the Vampire Hand Rejuvenation safe?
The Vampire Hand Rejuvenation is very safe and effective when performed by a highly trained, Vampire-certified injector, like Dr. Seiler. Additionally:
- Dr. Seiler uses an FDA-approved sterile process to obtain and concentrate PRP, which contains growth factors and healing elements produced naturally in your own body.
- In the history of medical and surgical literature, there has never been a reported complication from the use of PRP.
- Dr. Seiler uses an FDA-approved dermal filler (Juvederm XC) that has been studied and used for years to restore and reshape the face.
- Dr. Seiler is the pioneer of the Vampire Hand Rejuvenation treatment, and the most experienced provider in the state of Alabama. He is also one of Dr. Charles Runels’ top Vampire procedure trainers.
